How to add reserved slots (VIP) on a WARDOGS server

A reserved slot lets a player join your WARDOGS server even when it's full. The server keeps a number of slots free for the players on its reserved list. You can edit the list by hand in ServerSettings.ini, or let WARPANEL keep it for you.

The ServerSettings.ini lines

Reserved slots are two settings in the [/Script/WDGame.WDGameSession] section: how many slots are held back, and the Steam IDs (SteamID64, 17 digits) of the players who may use them. The ClearArray line empties the default list first; add one DefaultReservedPlayerIds line per player.

[/Script/WDGame.WDGameSession]
MaxReservedSlots=4
!DefaultReservedPlayerIds=ClearArray
.DefaultReservedPlayerIds=76561198000000011
.DefaultReservedPlayerIds=76561198000000099

Add a reserved slot with WARPANEL

  1. 1.Connect RCONIn WARPANEL, open your server's Settings → RCON and enter the server's public IP, RCON port (7776 by default) and password.
  2. 2.Open the reserved slot listYour server's Server config page shows the reserved slot list: who is in the settings file and how many slots are held back.
  3. 3.Add the playerPaste the player's Steam ID (7656119…) and add them. WARPANEL writes them into the settings file over RCON and tags them VIP in your team's player notes.
  4. 4.Restart when it suits youThe game reads the list when the server starts, so the slot works from the next restart. WARDOGS servers restart about once a day.

Give VIP automatically

  • Supporters: a supporter tier or one-time payment can include a reserved slot. WARPANEL adds it when the payment goes through and takes it back when the support ends.
  • Seeders: Discord → Seeding → Seeder rewards gives a reserved slot to players who seed for the minutes you choose, for as many days as you choose.
  • A player who already has a slot — added by hand or from another perk — keeps it when one of these ends.

Questions

How do I find a player's Steam ID?

It's the 17-digit number starting with 7656119 in their Steam profile address, or in WARPANEL's live player list and player pages.

Do reserved slots count towards the player limit?

Yes. MaxPlayers includes the reserved slots; MaxReservedSlots says how many of them are held back for the list.

Why doesn't a new reserved slot work straight away?

Live WARDOGS servers read the reserved list from ServerSettings.ini when they start, so a change takes effect after the next restart.
